Aucassin & Nicolette

Aucassin et Nicolette is a medieval French chante-fable, (mixture of of prose and verse or a “sung story”). It is the only known chantefable from what was once a very popular literary tradition, and it is from this work the term chantefable was coined in its concluding lines: “No cantefable prent fin” (“Our chantefable is drawing to a close”). The work probably dates from the early 13th century, and is known from only one surviving manuscript dating from the later part of the century. The author is unknown. It is generally considered a roman d’adventure, or a romantic work of action and adventure. The illustrations I have for you today by Maxwell Armfield, are taken from Eugene Mason’s 1910 translation:

  1. Steven,

Just had to let you know – I’ve done it! I’ve created my first product, and got it listed on ebay last night! Thanks so much for your step-by-step instructions in the $50 a Day Challenge. I’ve got a mac, so there were a few things I had to figure out for myself, but your instructions showed me what I needed to get done, and I just had to research a bit and figure out how to do it on a mac, and it came together quite nicely!

  2. Well done. Thats great!

  3. Steve,
Thank you for creating your $50/Day eBook. What a fantastic and enjoyable course. I’ve got a few questions. I am shopping for a new notebook to replace a six year old desktop. What screen resolution would you recommend for editing PD images? Is a 1366×768 resolution ok? Any other hardware and system requirements to conceder for a notebook used in a PD business? Feel free to name make and models. Thanks ED

  4. Hi Steve,
Such gorgeous vintage art here in Australia there is nothing like that around that is something that having a smaller history doesn’t give you. So it is a harder market for over here but looks good for over in the UK.
    Cheers Margot
